The government is getting into the mortgage business

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

With the government taking over Freddie Mae and Fanny Mac the government is getting into the business of mortgages. Is this a good thing? After all they were part owners of these two businesses as it was. They backed all of the loans these people created. So are we really changing anything or are things just staying the same with different labels. Is this socialism? Perhaps one could make that argument. But every government has some sort of socialistic aspect to it. After all many government programs are considered socialistic by nature. But is that a bad thing? After all we are basically just helping our neighbor out of a jam. We could experience the same problems in the future. Will we be so judgmental then?
