So I decided to dig in a little deeper by going online and looking up information about the property. I discovered that the government had a federal tax lien on the property. There are many places that hold Federal Tax Lien Records. Some of those places are online, court houses and even libraries. All of these places reference public information. When purchasing a house be sure to do your homework.
